About John

I am a Professional Career Counselor with over 35 years experience using career assessment in business and education. A member of the National Career Development Association, I have a Master's Degree in Counseling from Rivier College, and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Counseling with a concentration in Career Counseling from the University of New Hampshire. I've worked as a Career Counselor & Consultant with organizations such as AT&T, the University System of New Hampshire, and Northern Essex Community College, while also working independently with members of the community in my private practice.
I'm also a New Hampshire Justice of the Peace.

Recently, I made the decision to retire from my work life. As I began to think about what I wanted to do with my time I realized that, beyond just doing stuff that was relaxing and fulfilling for me, I also wanted to continue to make a difference in society. Of course, there are many ways to make a difference, and it occurred to me that over the course of my vocational counseling career I had done just that - made a meaningful difference in the lives of many of my clients. And, I always believed that that difference made a significant, positive impact on the world.
So, in addition to doing some other things, I've decided to continue making an impact on people's lives by offering the ACE Program on a limited basis to individuals who need help with their career choice. And, I've decide to do this at a reasonable rate. For those who can't afford the rate, I work with them to come up with a fee they can afford. I figure this is one way to keep me active, have some fun, open up the availability of good career counseling to more individuals, and continue to make a difference in people's lives. A win-win for all involved. It also keeps me busy and out of trouble! ;)

Personal Philosophy

As a Career Counselor who has spent much of my vocational life helping people to define and attain goals, I believe that everyone, with a little help and a little work, can discover their passions, define their life purpose, and find meaningful work. This defining of life's passion and purpose and the subsequent discovery of meaningful work, I think, is the key to something much bigger - a more peaceful planet.

Inherently, people are good, and if they take the time to find the passion that exists within themselves, they will discover not only their passion to be good, but also that the expression of that passion in their work leads to happiness both for themselves, and for those who come in contact with them. This, in a very poignant way, helps to improve our world. And so, in the same way, I see myself as helping to improve our planet by pursuing my passion - to help others discover theirs - through career counseling.
